Yankees
Yankee fans, will you watch Boston celebrate?
Reggie Jackson was smart to copyright Mr. October. David Ortiz could have every right to steal it otherwise.
That's right Yankee fans. Same thing happened to Charles Gipson at Wrigley in '03. Little bigger stakes for Wong.
I'm thinking that if you don't like the Red Sox you really don't care for their reactions after the Gomes HR. But watching the gamut of World Series emotion is pretty cool. Except for the whole beard thing of course.
Chances of signing Stephen Drew I think are slim because the Yankees don't have a clear need for a starting player at SS/3B. Unusual situations with Jeter and ARod. But I'm guessing his now 4 for 45 postseason avg isn't making Yankee fans excited about The possibility.
Tony Clark of the Players Association was on the field for a pregame presentation. When they showed that video how many Yankee fans immediately thought "if only his ball to RF hadn't hopped the fence Yanks win in 04!"
You guys into all these low scoring playoff games? Or prefer more scoring?
Also interesting to note how Tigers landed Verlander. 2nd overall pick in 2004. They lost 119 games in 2003, same year Yankees went to the World Series. Even in hindsight hard to think you'd want to trade places with them. 119 losses!!!
Guys don't jump the fun on Beltran and the Yankees. Yes it's possible. But when was the last time a free agent decided to decrease his value and say he WASN'T interested in the Yankees.
In 2004 Yankees offered Cano in package for Beltran. KC said no. Imagine that turn of events?
Yankee fans: are you big enough baseball fans to stay up for this NL epic or have you had enough for one night?
Girardi deal is done, 4 years and $16 million. Not counting Cano (who will likely play things out a little bit), what is next thing the Yankees have to do in your opinion?
Tigers with their bullpen situation every year. They are a perfect team to take a chance on a guy like Joba next year.
If you missed Hal Steinbrenner on WFAN with Mike Francesa it will be on WFAN.com if its not there already.
Is it really possible that Bartolo Colon, AJ Burnett, and Freddy Garcia are all starting postseason games??
In 2005 Yankees ha a chance to get Carlos Beltran for package including Robinson Cano. If they make the deal and signed him for 7-8 years, how do you think that would have turned out?
20 years ago tonight during a TOR-CWS playoff game word started to spread that Michael Jordan was going to retire from basketball. He made the announcement the next day. Social media would have exploded had it existed in 1993. Remember where you were when you heard?
I know it's not fair to Kimbrel, who is awesome. But I keep thinking 'do this another 15 years and we'll talk.' #Mariano
Frustrated Don Mattingly not hiding his emotions very well.
Those lefty relievers like Paco Rodriguez have no margin for error. Pitching with runners on almost every time. Even the good ones will get touched for runs on hits like that one.
Greinke and Dodgers have a lot riding on this game. Need to know he can follow up regular season performance with postseason success. Would give Dodgers best 1-2 October punch since, what...Johnson and Schilling??
This Red Sox team looks like one Yanks faced in September. Relentless. Rays have no answer.
Atmosphere in Pittsburgh will be meaningful only if Pirates can hang on here to tie series. I wonder if fans can maintain for long postseason run what they created on Tuesday.
I was expecting a great pitchers duel. Only one side showed up though.
Ok forget about all these other ex Yankees. You are all rooting for Don Mattingly right?
Sooooo. I guess that was Bad A.J.
I'm not sure what Cleveland is waiting for. Running out of time to release the midges.
Soft spot for Swisher and Giambi? Or rooting for the Rays?
Gotta feel good for Russell Martin. I know there will be some still angry about letting him go. Martin was missed but don't make the mistake of thinking this was a playoff team with just Martin. If rest of stars stayed healthy you wouldn't have noticed his absence all that much.
I know his postseason record isn't very good, but it's hard not to call Evan Longoria a clutch player. Watch him enough and you know how good he is.
